Outcome driven innovation is an approach to innovation which focuses explicitly on “the job to be done”. Proponents of it argue that firms should not focus on the product, the customer or the competition. Rather, they should try to understand what job the customer is trying to get done and find ways of helping the customer to do so. The term is in many ways similar to customer insight.
