Well, it turns out that Walter's list is an ideal set of recommendations for anyone who wants to do "environmental scanning," In other words, monitoring news, trends and other information for hints of the next new trend or as a catalyst for ideas.

Well, it turns out that Walter’s list is an ideal set of recommendations for anyone who wants to do “environmental scanning” – that is, monitoring news, trends and other information for hints of the next new trend or as a catalyst for ideas.

Some of Walter’s tips include these:

  • Talk to other trailblazers to see what’s on their radar
  • Ask yourself “What’s changed or changing?”
  • Ask key questions about an issue or topic and its consequences.
