According to Hugh MacLeod, author of the eclectic Gapingvoid Weblog, we are now entering The Creative Age — an era when a growing number of creative souls are seeking meaning. As Hugh puts it:
“It means we’re starting to recognize that our work is just as much part of real lives as our evenings and weekends, that our jobs are not mere economic units that pay for ‘our real lives’ outside the office. Our jobs ARE our real lives, dammit, and we’re going to fight like hell to make sure that people recognize and respect this.”
Hugh also points to the renaissance in writing, the arts and all sorts of enlightenment — our own unique “door” that we can step through to find our place, our meaning in this world. Fascinating thoughts, Hugh.
