Here’s a very interesting Innovation Skills Profile, published by the Conference Board of Canada. It provides some valuable advice to people who are interested in contributing more to their organization’s innovation performance — to produce new and improved products, processes and services. The profile is divided into four sections, covering the skills, attitudes and behaviors needed to:

  • Generate ideas
  • Take calculated risks and be entrepreneurial
  • Develop and maintain interpersonal relationships that support innovation
  • Turn ideas into products, processes and services

Each section contains 2 lists of well-organized and thought-provoking bullet points, which help you to “act and contribute” and to “manage and support others.” I can easily envision using this list as a personal brainstorming tool, which you can use to ask yourself “How can I…” questions about each of the bullet points, and develop some really compelling new insights on how to increase your creative capacity.

I don’t know if this is a new publication of the Conference Board of Canada, but it sure is a valuable tool! Thanks to reader Peter West for pointing this resource out to me!
