Twitter: An Important Tool for Innovation Efforts

The popular social media channel Twitter can be used at least three ways in support of your organization’s innovation efforts, reports Stefan Lindegaard.


Twitter can be used to gather business intelligence via keyword and hashtag searches. You can tweet about new developments in your innovation program or simply share ideas and insights. Here you can include links to websites allowing readers to read further. But Lindgaard warns that it takes a lot of time to build up a reputation and a significant number of followers. Innovation practitioners can also schedule Twitter chats, which are a form of online discussion. They can be valuable sources of inspiration, and they also help you identify interesting people with whom to network.
