Bill Fischer, IMD Professor of Technology Management, shared his latest research on the key barriers to innovation within firms during a recent virtual seminar. The challenge, according to Professor Fischer, is that firm’s need to master the seven key contradictions of innovation.

The seminar was organized in cooperation with IMD, top business school in Switzerland. Professor Fischer’s presentation focused on contradictions that were “not obvious” at first glance, but were based on both his research and his in-depth interaction with participants in a joint program offered by MIT and IMD. The program has been running for over 15 years and has enabled Professor Fischer the opportunity to repeatedly “test” these contradictions with the program participants – executives who craft innovation strategies and put them into action.
