Bill Fischer, IMD Professor of Technology Management, shared his latest research on the key barriers to innovation within firms during a recent virtual seminar. The challenge, according to Professor Fischer, is that firms need to master the seven key contradictions of innovation, which were “not obvious” at first glance, but were based on both his research and his in-depth interaction with participants in a joint program offered by MIT and IMD. The program has been running for over 15 years and has enabled Professor Fischer the opportunity to repeatedly “test” these contradictions with the program participants – executives who craft innovation strategies and put them into action.
At IMD, Bill Fischer is professor of Innovation and Technology Management. He is program director for two of IMD’s flagship Innovation programs as well as teaching in several other senior executive programs. He has a career that spans many industries (including WHO) and geographies and has deep knowledge of China, where he has worked extensively. He holds a DBA from George Washington University.
